Davina talks sex

The following extract is from an article by Debbie Pogue for The Mirror newspaper.

INSTEAD of waiting until she felt ready, Davina McCall caved in to pressure and had sex way too early.

Rather than it being a special moment, she threw her virginity away. And she bitterly regrets it.

"I lost my virginity at too young an age," admits Davina, speaking exclusively to the Mirror. "I won't say how young in case my granny is reading this!

"I got cajoled into it - as many young girls do.

"If I'd had the sort of education that is on offer now I probably would have had the strength to say no.

"I vaguely remember having one sex education lesson once, which didn't even attempt to put it in the context of a loving relationship.

"This came at an age where we'd been reading Harold Robbins books under the duvet with a torch, so we'd already picked up the wrong end of the stick anyway."

No wonder she feels so strongly about the compulsory introduction of Personal and Social Health Education (PSHE) in schools.

She even argues the case in Friday's Channel 4 show, Let's Talk Sex, hoping it will spark a national debate.

And don't forget, if you missed the series when it was originally broadcast last year in Channel 4's morning learning slot, you can see Let's Talk Sex, fronted by Davina, tonight at 8pm.

Davina for top Celeb Mum!

Remember last year, when the shortlist for the Celebrity Mum of the Year was announced, which saw Davina placed right at the bottom of the voting list?

Well, then, you'll also remember that she came just seventh with 4% of the votes, losing out to Sharon Osbourne and a host of other yummy mummies who were, coincidently, placed right near the top of the long-scrolly page of scrolly-ness.

Lazy voters...

Anyhow, we're at an advantage this year as they've put Davina right at the top. Huzzah!

And let's not forget she's got another child to take care of since last year's vote, automatically making her a more brilliant mother due to statistics and that sort of thing.

Meanwhile, last year's winning celebrity mum, Mrs O, has missed out on a place on this year's shortlist - we're not sure if previous winners are excluded to make it fairer, but we've concluded they realised they did Davina a major disservice in 2006, and are putting it right for 2007...better late than never.

So, pop along to this page and put in your vote (or votes depending on how much time you've got on your hands) and give the right lady the title...we mean Davina, if you got lost under all this waffle.

Thankyouplease!
