Davina's return to AA meetings

Taken from the Daily Star:

STRESSED Davina McCall is reportedly going back to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

She fears her pressured lifestyle could make her turn to drink again.

The Big Brother host, 39, has just had a third baby and also had to put up with massive criticism following her flop chat show.

Another BBC show, He's Having A Baby, was also axed from the schedules.

And the pressure, combined with having to kick off Celebrity Big Brother in a week, means she is considering going back to AA sessions.

She confided in a friend: "I'm worried it’s getting too much for me again. I'm back at work soon and the temptation to have a drink when I'm stressed could be a problem.

"It's better that I start dealing with things now, rather than getting further down the line."

Davina TV's most watched female

A report by Media Planning Group has found Davina to be the most watched female television presenter on British screens.

The report claims that a whopping 30,763,557 viewers -a 56% share - have seen Davina at some point throughout 2006, thanks to 'Davina', 'Sport Relief' plus, of course, 'Big Brother' and its celebrity counterpart.

Her nearest rival on the female list was X-Factor host Kate Thornton, who was seen by some 27m people, followed by Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly (26.3m) and This Morning hostess-with-the-mostess Fern Britton (26.2m).

However, on the overall list Davina finished an impressive fourth, behind third-place Phillip Schofield (32.4m), second-place Chris Tarrent (32.9m) and the most watched presenter on British television in 2006, Gary Lineker, who was seen by 36.5m thanks to his coverage of the World Cup.

The list also revealed that while most of the big hitters were over 45, our Davina is a spritely 39-year-old, and the youngest in the Top 5.

And for those of you bitter that Ant and Dec always win the NTA award over our Davina, they came only eighth with 26.5m viewers and a 48.3% share. Zing!

Not bad going for someone with the "turkey of the year" to their name, is it.

(PS. Merry Christmas, Davina, Matthew, Holly, Tilly and Chester.)

Davina on Room 101

The BBC's Press Office has confirmed that Davina will be appearing on BBC Two's 'Room 101', where celebrity guests are invited to discuss their pet hates with host Paul Merton in order to have them consigned to Room 101.

She'll be on the fifth show in the series after the likes of Cilla Black, Marcus Brigstocke, Nigel Havers and Mark Steel chat about the things that get their goat.

The series kicks off on January 5, meaning Davina will more than likely appear on the show on Friday February 2, providing the show isn't moved around in the schedules.

According to the Press Office: "Davina condemns all of Frank Sinatra's music to the daunting prospect of entering Room 101 which she hopes will mean an end to all the karaoke Sinatra impersonators in pubs and clubs."

Ooh-err!

Davina will also choose four other items to be sent into Room 101, with the host then deciding what to let in and what to keep out - with a little help from the studio audience, of course.

Maternity leave is over!

It's been a long time since we last posted any news, but Davina's been kept busy looking after new-born son Chester and two daughters Holly and Tilly, meaning there's been nothing much to post.

Until now, that is.

Yes, Celebrity Big Brother will return to our screens on Wednesday January 3rd 2007 for its fifth series, and we don't need to tell you that Davina will once again guide the new batch of celebrities into the newly-redecorated Big Brother house.

Expect some promo spots on This Morning and The Paul O'Grady Show (or Richard & Judy, depending on which one's on air) to build up the hype in the coming weeks.

A new publicity shot has just been released - just click on the image to your left to enlarge.

And if that's not enough, Davina will appear as a guest on BBC Two's 'Room 101' which returns for a six-week run from January 5th. We'll let you know which week is Davina's nearer the time.

And finally, an article in Broadcast magazine named Davina's 'not-given-a-fair-chance' chat show as the television "turkey" of the year.

We won't get too upset - Davina labelled 'Davina' a turkey at the National Television Awards a couple of months ago, although Broadcast's opinion that she was "out of her depth" slightly irks us - some better guests wouldn't have gone amiss, BBC, plus the media wasn't too kind which put off potential viewers.

Luckily for our Davina, the 'golden goose' that is Big Brother was named as one of the year's TV high-points.

Hurrah.
